Friday, October 11th

On our first day in Tahoe, we presented a portion of our Sunday concert program to the band students of the Alder Creek Middle School. During our 90 minute presentation, we engaged students by playing a Kodaly rhythm game, answering questions, and of course introduced them to the counterpoint and form of Bach's Double Violin Concerto.

We were so proud of the students for their active listening skills! By the end of the presentation, all were experts in disecting the different themes in the musical masterwork.

We had the next day off so the group rose bright and early to embark on the Shirley Canyon Hiking trail. It was so refreshing and inspirational to experience the beautiful nature of Tahoe. Here are some photos I took!

The hiking crew took the air tram down to meet the rest of the team in the the Palisades Village. We shared celebratory beers and perused the Made in Tahoe Festival!

Sunday, October 13

Concert day!! We concluded our time with Tahoe Music Alive by presenting our first Insight Program: Shostakovich 5 Pieces for Two Violins, a Guided Listening of the Bach Double Violin Concerto, and Wieniaski Caprice Etudes No. 1 &2.

As seen above, we had an amazing time interacting with the audience and sharing our love for music. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend or more beuatiful surrounding to bring people together with music.

Thank YOU for supporting us on our journey to this point! We look forward to experiencing many more adventures together this year.

Sincerely,

Leah
